Cubicle failure rarely happens overnight. It announces itself through small faults that a facility team can act on before the washroom reaches a point where it must be shut for repair.
Watch for these five signs
- Doors that no longer align — the first symptom of swelling cores or worn hinges.
- Rust streaks near the base — usually mild-steel legs or hinges, not the panels themselves.
- Locks that stick or spin — typically failing indicator bolts or worn nylon hardware.
- Discoloured or bubbled edges — exposed edges that were never sealed correctly.
- Frequent cleaning complaints — a textured surface that traps dirt and will not come clean.
Repair or replace?
If the pilasters and floor fixings are sound, doors and panels can usually be replaced in isolation — a fraction of the cost of a full refit. If the legs are rusting through, plan a full replacement and specify stainless steel hardware this time.
